Description
You will be collected from your accommodation in Cairns or Northern Beaches before embarking on a breathtaking journey that takes you through and above Australia’s amazing Tropical Rainforest, which is situated in the Barron Gorge National Park and has earned World Heritage listing.
The 7.5 km long Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is equipped with cosy gondolas accommodating up to six passengers, which float mere metres above the rainforest canopy, giving you uninterrupted views of the rainforest, the Coral Sea, Cairns’ tropical region and the Cairns Highlands. Your Skyrail experience enables you to spend some time at two mid-stations, at which you’ll find out more about the wonders of the rainforest from the forest floor.
At Red Peak Station, take a guided tour on the boardwalk led by the Skyrail’s rangers, who will teach you lots about the ancient rainforest as you pass magnificent buttress roots, age-old Kauri Pines and wait-a-while palms creeping skywards. At Red Peak Station, you can also learn more about the flora and fauna of the rainforest with specially prepared displays and touch tables.
At Barron Falls Station, explore the rainforest with ease via walkways that are easy to access, and which you can follow to three different lookouts, each offering astounding views of spectacular Barron Gorge and Falls. Drop by the Rainforest Interpretation Centre, which was developed by Skyrail hand in hand with CSIRO, and which is equipped with touch screen computers as well as an audio-visual presentation that’s interactive and informative, enabling you to learn about the fascinating rainforest environment in an enjoyable manner.
Once you arrive in Kuranda (the village in the rainforest), you can leisurely take in the highlights of this special village. If the belly begins to rumble, there are cafes and restaurants where you can purchase food.
One of Australia’s best experiences for locals and visitors alike. Skyrail strives to be as accessible as possible and can be enjoyed by people of any age and with any levels of ability. Nowhere else in the world can such a special experience in the rainforest be enjoyed.
Located a mere 15 minutes from Cairns city, Skyrail is in operation every day but Christmas Day and days when maintenance is scheduled.

Hi Margaret, there are lockers at Skyrail but they are pretty small and would only be big enough to fit carry on luggage in them so they wouldn't fit a full suitcase unfortunately. If you are travelling lightly then this would be ok but if you have a big suitcase or bag then unfortunately this won't work for you.
