Overall trip was pleasant and staff were excellent. Food was not good at all. One of the two reef locations was good. Equipment I was given was broken. Please check before putting away or giving to clients.

I waa very happy with my booking and I enjoyed my day. I only regret that I could not do scuba dive because of helath issues I was not allowed to do. I requested refund as we had to pay in advance for dive but it was denied saying we need to do our research if that anything could stop us diving before making booking.

The trip was absolutely amazing. The only disappointment was not being able to get clearance to dive. Understandable answer but took all day to get a "no", that's what was disappointing.
All told it was,a great day. Snorkelling is fantastic out here. Reef fish are countless. Coral shapes and colours are mostly pretty good. Some obviously broken by tourists standing on the coral.

Fantastic customer service. Only suggestion is to make sure that the companies they deal with provide accurate info to pass on to the customer. For example, if a snorkeling trip is to depart at 8:15am, with checking only between 7:30am to 8:00am, the info passed on should reflect same.

Down Under called us to confirm we were on our way, we told them our ETA, they said ok, we arrived a bit earlier and saw them motoring away... what an incredibly disappointing let down!

Hi Raed, firstly we're really pleased you had a good experience with our customer service, thank you for your feedback. We do always try to keep close relationships with our operators so that we're able to provide as much information as possible to make for a seamless experience. It's such a shame that you didn't make it in time for your reef boat trip. I can imagine that it was disappointing, but we hope you enjoyed your Green Island trip instead and that it helped to make up for your stressful morning. We hope you enjoyed your time in Cairns and have had a safe journey home to Canada! Warm Regards, Sally

Down under diving is the most worst diving company that I have ever been on and they have cheated us as well. They charged us for things we didn't do like going on the submarine. The reef tour conducted by the Marine Biologist is a joke. The Marine biologist was racial abusive to us. And the staff on the boat were terrible. I am reporting them to the Australian Taxation Office for not giving us a tax invoice for all the things that they have charged us for and I am also reporting them to the Australian Consumer Commission for malpractice. The diving instructor was terrible and we doubt his qualifications as my husband's descent to the surface after diving was too fast as confirmed by our doctor as my husband suffered for almost a week from rapidly descending from diving.
Both me and my husband are disgusted with this company, it was a waste of our time and money and ruined our health.

Hi Ting. Sorry to hear your skydive was eventually cancelled and that you had to wait around all day. That must have been very frustrating for you. Your refund was processed immediately on the day your skydive was cancelled. This may take up to 5 days to appear in your bank account. Thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback and we will be sure to pass your comments in regards to the poor communication on to the team at the Australia Skydive Company.

Hi,
Im looking at doing a dive trip in June. Im an advanced open water diver. Can I use my own regs and BC on the trip or do I need to use yours

Comments

You certainly can bring any of your own equipment along to use and just make sure you remember your certification card!

Hi Guys, does the price includes use of the wet suite?

Comments

The water temperature in Cairns is very warm so you most probably wont need a wetsuit when diving. If you decide to hire one then the cost is $10 per person, payable on board the boat.

Hi guys, Im open water certified. Is this fine with the depths you run at?

Comments

Yes that is absolutely fine. The Great Barrier Reef is relatively shallow, so an open water dive certification is all that is required to scuba dive at the reef. Typically the dives are less than 20 metres (60ft).

How deep do you go on a typical beginners scuba dive? ( non certified)

Comments

Hi Amy, on an introductory dive with Downunder Dive you won't go any deeper than 10m.

do you take walk ons or require bookings?

Comments

Hi Rachel. It is possible to turn up on the day and get on board the Downunder Dive Osprey reef boat however the boat is often booked up several days in advance so I would definitely recommend booking in advance. Can I ask what date you are thinking of booking for? If you do book with us and then decide you wish to change the date then simply contact us by phone or email and we can change your booking for you.

If we do the intro scuba dive lesson and enjoy it can we book another dive on the day? My daughter will be 12 and confident snorkelling is she able to dive?

Comments

Hi Alison, yes if you enjoy the intro dive with Downunder Dive on the day then you can purchase another dive onboard the boat on the day. The minimum age for scuba diving is 12 so yes your daughter is eligible to dive.

Im looking for a Scuba Dive but haven't got any diving experience at all. What suits the best for me and how much does it cost. Is there anything on special at the moment if we arrive there in next 2 days. Thanks.

Comments

Hi Durga. The intro dive package would be perfect for you. It offers you an opportunity to try scuba diving under supervision without the need for a scuba diving licence. There is a special on at the moment for $209 and there is space tomorrow or Thursday but spots are filling up. Alternatively, there is a special combo package called the Get High package which includes the intro diving and also a scenic helicopter flight out at the reef. The cost for this is $259, so its only $50 more than the the normal intro dive package plus you get a helicopter flight. This combo is fully booked for tomorrow (26th March) however there are a few spaces left on the 27th and 28th.

Hi Yiu. Yes there are prescription goggles available on board all the Great Barrier Reef boats that depart Cairns marina. You can actually speak to the crew before you get on board and they can try and find a prescription mask that works for you. Have a great day out on the reef!

Do you offer transfers from Port Douglas?

Comments

Hi Me,

Unfortunately Downunder Dive do not offer transport from Port Douglas. It's 50 minutes from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns to Port Douglas. Your best option is to grab a shuttle bus, however the only challenge you might have is finding one that leave early enough that will have you at the Reef Fleet Terminal by 7:30am for cheek in and registration.

If this does not suit, then there are great boats heading to the Reef from Port Douglas, click here to see a list - Port Douglas Things To Do

Hi there,

Regarding the 2 dives Special AUD$204.00 (was AUD$239.00), does this mean 2 adults price? also do I have to book in advance? Could people who has limited swimming ability dive?

Thanks

Comments

Hi Brad, the price is for 1 adult to do 2 dives. There is options to do 1, 2 or 3 dives but the prices are per adult. Yes, it is definitely recommended to book in advance as the Downunder Dive trip is very popular and does book out days in advance. You need to be able to swim confidently to be able to dive.

Hi Erwin. You can hire a wetsuit on board any of the reef boats that depart Cairns for under $10 but to be honest the water is warm all year and you wont need one.

Hope to hear from you soon and God bless!

Comments

Hi Cindy,

We would love to be able to extend this special price through until November however in order to get this deal you need to have gone on the boat by the end of the end of August. This is a great trip and at that time of the year you will find there are not many specials in the market.

We will be passing thru Cairns in during last 2 weeks of march 2013 Is March a good time to dive there Here in US March is real unsettled as to weather Thanks

Comments

Hi J, March is coming to the end of the rainy season in Cairns and the end of Summer. The most ideal time to be in Cairns with settled weather is between May and October however diving is carried out all year on the Great Barrier Reef and trips with Downunder Dive are very rarely cancelled so you can still dive in March.

With the 139 price for the Cruise & Intro Dive,
does that also include snorkelling? Onboard, will we have to pay anything extra for the dive?

Also, what other things will we have to pay for not include in that price? (ie- wetsuit, levy, etc)?
And how much do they cost?

Thanks!

Comments

Hi Keanna, yes the current intro dive special price for $139 on board Downunder Dive does include snorkelling. You will not have to pay anything extra on board for the dive itself but you will need to pay a $20 per person Environmental Management Fee on the day and also a $10 wetsuit hire fee if you are wanting one.
