Touring the World Heritage Rainforests of Northern Australia
Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours enable you to enjoy memorable experiences discovering wildlife and birding in small groups in the Wet Tropics area of Tropical North Queensland, which is World Heritage listed. The day/night wildlife tours enable you to explore at night swathes of mountain rainforest to which access is restricted, so you have the best possible opportunities to spot nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.
Discover luxuriant tropical rainforest as well as other types of natural habitats accompanied by a knowledgeable and friendly guide, who will call your attention to the various fascinating forms of wildlife that surround you.
Tour 1 – Rainforest Wildlife Tour
This tour is ideal for those who want to witness native wildlife in natural habitats not only in the day but also during the night.
Experience the beauty of the Atherton Tablelands, which contains a diverse range of natural landscapes, from luxuriant tropical rainforest to spectacular volcanic crater lakes. In the day, keep your eyes peeled for the Musky Rat Kangeroo and Boyd’s Forest Dragon, as well as an array of colourful birds. As dusk falls, head to the river in search of the Platypus, one of the world’s most special mammals.
Stop for dinner at a charming restaurant in the countryside before embarking on an exciting night of animal spotting. Follow the mountain tracks as you look out for Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo, Green, Lemuroid and Herbert River Ringtail Possums, frogs, owls, gliders and so much more. No two nights are the same, and there is so much to discover. Later at supper you will recount your sightings, and you’ll return to your accommodation with a better understanding and appreciation of life in the rainforest.
