Our Great Barrier Reef is proudly the world's biggest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 smaller individual reefs and 900 islands. Stretching over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres. The reef is located closely off the coast of Cairns, Queensland in northeast Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. The Reef supports a wide diversity of marine life and in 1981 listed as a World Heritage Site.
