Jungle Surfing - Cape Tribulation
Description
Jungle Surfing is a unique and exhilarating way to experience the beauty of the world-renowned Daintree Rainforest.
Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours are unique rainforest tours where your feet don’t touch the ground. Fly through the trees on flying fox ziplines, stopping at 5 tree platforms to take in spectacular bird’s eye views over the treetops, down to cascading streams and out to the Great Barrier Reef.
Safe, fun, fully guided and with no experience necessary - an adventure activity for all ages.
We know for some it can be a little scary to leave the ground behind and scale the heights, but we hope you’ll embrace the challenge and feel the wonder. Our highly trained team of scientists, tour guides and abseiling specialists will be with you every step of the way to guide you safely through the canopy and into our treetop world.
About The Tour
On arrival at our harnessing centre, you’ll meet your team of two to five guides who’ll be taking you surfing through the jungle. Each guest will be fitted into a full body harness and helmet.
A 250m walk through the forest leads to the Exit platform, where you’ll be given a safety briefing before leaving the forest floor and being winched one by one up to Platform 1. Jungle Surfing uses no motors and your ascent to the first platform is completely man powered!
On each platform, a guide will greet you, connect you safely to the tree, and introduce you to different elements of the forest before sending you on your way to the next platform.

Duration
- Allow 2 hours including transfers from Cape Tribulation accommodation (1.25hrs jungle surfing)
Departures
- 7:45am, 8:45am, 9:45am, 10:45am, 12:30pm & 2:30pm
- Free transfers from Cape Tribulation accommodation or if you are driving up from Cairns or Port Douglas meet at the Cape Tribulation pharmacy
- If you are driving from Cairns please allow 2.5 hours to get there

- Jungle Surfing is an adventure activity for all ages from 3-103, so the whole family can enjoy the thrill of flying through the rainforest
- No child rates
- Not recommended for pregnant women
- Cape Tribulation is 2.5 hours north of Cairns. There is plenty of accommodation in Cape Trib if you want to stay the night or you can drive yourself from Cairns for the day. Suggest booking the 12.30pm if you are drivnig yourself from Cairns

- The max weight is 120kgs (265lbs)
- Jungle Surfing tree platforms range in height from 2.5 to 19.5m above the ground and the cable spans range from 25 to 78m in length. The highest point of the tour is 22.5m above Mason Creek

Jungle Surfing took me by surprise. I‘ve been on many similar zip line and flying fox courses all over the world, and thought this would be a similar experience, which for the record it certainly was not. The harness and attachment system allows you to move easily, swing upside down like a monkey and zip from tree to tree with ease. The course is very well put together taking us all up and down different heights, past huge native trees and during the whole process getting expert information from the guides about the area we swinging through (crazy adventure scientist guides – is not far from the truth!). Sheena and her crew do a wonderful job and if you make it to Cape Tribulation, you must tick this eco/adventure experience off the list.
Suggestions: As you are zipping around try and take in how well they have built the course so as to not negatively impact the natural rainforest, right down to their man made lift, which brings you up to the starting point – we love clean, green products like this.
