Description
The wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, with its awe-inspiring natural beauty, are even better when experienced on board the cutting edge T6. Designed specifically to provide extreme comfort, the T6 is equipped with air conditioning, big picture windows through which to view the scenery, lounge-style seating, flat-screens, al fresco sun decks perfect for enjoying the sea breeze and platforms at water level from which to easily enter the water.
With daily departures from Cairns, T6 takes you to your first site of two on the outer reef in 90 minutes flat. With 16 reef sites to choose from, TUSA Dive offers new and different sites each day depending on the conditions of the sea and weather. This means visitors have a chance to enjoy a whole new experience each and every day. Some exciting activities to take part in include guided snorkel tours, an ‘introductory’ diving experience and exciting dives for certified divers who can take part in up to three dives each day. Almost five hours of scuba diving and snorkelling amidst spectacular reef scenery can be enjoyed, and you’re sure to be bowled over by the magnificence of the corals and the kaleidoscope of marine life that surround you. TUSA Dive’s professional and friendly dive crew will see to it that you receive all the instruction and supervision you need to have a safe, memorable and downright magical time on the Great Barrier Reef.
Snorkelling takes place directly off the rear of the T6, and each reef is at most a brief swim away. You’ll receive a detailed briefing from the crew members before you get into the water, and if you’ve never snorkelled before you’ll also receive a bit of instruction. You’ll be accompanied in the water at all times by a watchful crew member who’ll be on hand in case anyone heeds a little help. During the day, you can also embark on a Guided Snorkel Tour that’s absolutely free and led by a professional divemaster.
TUSA Dive are a locally owned company with over 20 years of experience specialising in day tours on the Great Barrier Reef. An Advanced Ecotourism Operator, the company is dedicated to responsibly providing services in a manner that helps to conserve the environment.
Optional Extras
Other than everything that’s included with your cruise fare, you can also choose between an exciting range of optional activities at an additional cost. Optional activities are best pre-booked to guarantee a spot and avoid disappointment.
Introductory Scuba Diving
An ‘Intro Dive’ will make your trip to the Great Barrier Reef that much more memorable. An ‘Intro Dive’, also known as an Introductory Dive, is officially called a PADI Discover Scuba Course. No prior experience is needed to undertake the Discover Scuba Course, and you will receive all the necessary tuition during your time on the T6. Participants must be at least 14 years of age and successfully pass a medical questionnaire upon boarding in the morning.
Following the briefing, when you arrive at the reef you will enter the ocean directly from the rear of the boat. You will visit the same sites the certified divers get to visit, and will reach depths of up to 10 metres. With expert divers accompanying you and no more than three other divers in your group of ‘intro’ divers, your dive, which will last from 20 to 35 minutes, will safely enable you to observe fish life in a whole new way.
Introductory divers can also opt to enjoy a second dive at the second site of the day. You can also choose to snorkel during the hours between your dives.
Certified Diving
With more than 20 years of experience operating day tours catering to certified divers, TUSA Dive has a long history that has enabled it to gain access to some of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park’s most spectacular dive spots, all of which can be reached on a day trip originating in Cairns. The company has 16 dive sites, all located within 50 kilometres of Cairns, and the best two locations of the 16 will be selected based on the day’s conditions. Those who would like to embark on more than one day of adventure with TUSA Dive might, depending on the weather, be able to explore two completely different sites on each day.
You will be able to choose between participating in two and three dives at every location. Every site will be distinctly different from the previous one, enabling you to discover sprawling gardens of coral, yawning caverns, isolated pinnacles and walls, all the while keeping you entranced with the sight of an unbelievably diverse and vibrant array of marine life.
With TUSA Dive, you can choose to dive together with a buddy or participate in a guided dive led by a qualified divemaster. First class scuba diving equipment, which includes BCDs, TUSA Liberator masks, Uwatec Aladin Pro dive computers, Scubapro regulators and TUSA Imprex fins and booties will be used. Wetsuits come in all sizes, including full length 3mm suits and 5mm shorties or, if you prefer, lycra suits.
Divers joining TUSA Dive for 3 days will be entitled to a special discounted package.
