Description
The Cairns Estuary system is known by fishermen and anglers as a paradise filled with creeks, open waters and deep channels just waiting to be explored. Cairns-Trinity Inlet, which is also a State Marine Park, is a natural environment teeming with fish species thanks to many and varied mudflats, deep holes, drop-offs and snags. The region around Cairns Estuary is criss-crossed with waterways measuring more than 100 kilometres in total.
Some of the fish species commonly caught while fishing in Cairns Inlet include Mangrove Jack, Fingermark, Estuary Cod, Salmon, Grunter or Javelin Fish, Queen Fish or Queenies, Thread Fin Salmon, GT’s or Trevally, Mud Crabs, Bream and of course the Barramundi, coveted by fishermen everywhere.
The waterways of the Cairns Estuary network are lined with mangroves and are famous for being the most fruitful and diverse ecosystem in the world. Saltwater crocodiles or salties also roam the area, together with a mind-boggling array of bird species. Fish Tales enhances your experience even further by providing you with fascinating information concerning Cairns’ history. If you’re particularly lucky you might even catch sight of a lurking crocodile.
