The Great Barrier Reef is not just for certified divers. If you are a non diver or snorkeller or can't swim then there's still plenty to do out on the reef. Many reef boat companies offer glass bottom boat tours and semi submersible submarines that allow you to see the reef and sea life in all its glory from under the water without having to get wet! If you can swim but have never snorkeled before or are a little nervous about the ocean then most boats offer free 'learn to snorkel' classes. With flippers, a mask and snorkel, optional life vest and life guards on duty, you'll be surprised just how easy and fun snorkelling can be.
