With Great Adventures you can explore the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef on any day of your holiday from our spacious reef platform. Take an introductory dive, snorkel or even cruise the reef on your own underwater scooter just like James Bond! There’s so much to choose from, whether you’re up for a little adventure, or prefer to relax and let your day unfold. With our semi-submersible and underwater observatory, you don’t even have to get wet to discover the wonder of the reef!
All of our reef boat tours are accredited with Advanced Ecotourism Certification, ensuring visitors have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the magnificent World Heritage environment of the Great Barrier Reef.
The beauty of the Great Barrier Reef is yours to experience when you cruise to our mulit-level reef activity platform. Situated on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, our spacious platform features undercover seating and tables to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, full bar facilities, a swimming enclosure for children, change rooms with freshwater showers, sundeck, and scuba diving facilities with a semi-submerged platform. You will be able to snorkel and dive amongst some of the most spectacular coral gardens and marine life diversity on the Great Barrier Reef.
Or if you choose to stay dry, you can still embrace the natural wonderland below in our underwater observatory and spacious, air-conditioned semi-submersible vessel!

Optional Extras
In addition to your cruise fare inclusions, a range of exciting optional activities at an extra cost are available for your enjoyment. Optional extras cannot be pre booked and are subject to availability on the day of travel.
Introductory Diving
- Introductory diving is suitable for beginners. It’s fun and easy and there is still plenty of time to enjoy all other activities on board with family and friends!
- No experience is necessary and the only requirements are that you are over 12 years, pass the on-board medical questionnaire and participate in our 30 minute dive brief.
- All equipment, including wetsuits and prescription masks (if required) are included
- All of our professional dive instructors are PADI qualified.
Certified Diving
- Certified Divers can explore an underwater world teeming with exotic marinelife, while non-diving and snorkelling companions participate in platform activities.
- We choose the most suitable sites for the conditions, water clarity and marine life on your day of travel to ensure the best dive and in-water experiences.
- Certified divers can enjoy one or two spectacular dives lasting approximately 40 minutes
- Certified divers must posses an internationally recognized SCUBA certificate card.
Guided Snorkelling Adventures
A guided snorkel tour is a great way to maximise your experience at the Outer Great Barrier Reef. Ideal for novice snorkellers and family groups, you will be able to swim with the fish and explore the wonders of the reef with one of our knowledgeable guides by your side!
Scuba Doo
Great Adventures’ pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef is the only place in Australia where you can cruise the reef on your own underwater scooter! No experience is necessary and non-swimmers welcome. It's great fun and your professional guide will take you on an underwater journey to remember. Minimum age is 12 years.

- Scenic helicopter flights are available on the day at extra cost (weather permitting)
- Disposable underwater cameras available for sale on board
- Minimum age for scuba diving and Scuba Doo is 12 years
- Environmental Management Fee (EMC) and Port Charges of $5 per person payable direct on the day
- Please leave at least 24 hours after your last dive before flying
