The Boat
OceanQuest is a 36 metre catamaran over 3 decks. With 4 double suites, 18 twin share and 1 quad share cabin, we have the capacity to sleep 48 customers overnight on the reef in unrivalled comfort and luxury. All rooms have en-suite facilities, air-conditioning, as well as TV’s. There is a large lounge area on the wheelhouse deck with a bar where you can relax and kick back after a long days diving. The main deck has a large dining room capable of comfortably seating 48 passengers.

The Dive Sites
We have 14 permanent moorings on the Outer Barrier Reef (including Norman and Saxon reefs) that ensure minimal damage to the pristine coral formations. Our dive sites are frequented by myriads of tropical fish and include the ever popular large Maori Wrasse, who are always diver friendly. The swim through, wall and drift dives will appeal to every level of diver experience and the night dive with sharks is a truly unforgettable experience.

Non certified divers and Intro diving
If you have never dived before and don't want to do a full course you can now book a 'Discover SCUBA Diving' 2 Day/1Night liveaboard trip including 5 Introductory Dives. All that is required is the ability to swim and you will also be required to fill out a medical questionnaire. Select 'Intro Diving' when booking.

Whilst you are on your way to the reef you will be given a briefing outlining what is involved (usually about 45 minutes). This briefing will outline the procedures that will make your experience a safe and unforgettable one.

On arrival at the reef, you will start by practising with your equipment on the surface. Once you and your instructor are comfortable with those skills, you practice them again, this time below the surface (only a few feet).

Finally when you and your instructor feel comfortable it's time to dive!!! As a resort diver there will be a maximum of 4 divers with 1 instructor. The supervision is very close at all times. You will go to a maximum depth of 12 m (40ft) and these dives generally last around 1/2 hour.

During the dive you can expect to see the Great Barrier Reef in all its glory - You will discover excitement and adventure - freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the "weightless" exhilaration of breathing underwater.

Alternatively, you are more than welcome to snorkel as often as you like.

Other Information

Non divers can choose Snorkelling options or the 1 night 2 day intro diving option
Guided dives with an instructor costs $15 extra
If you wish to stay another night on board you can pay an extra $170 per night (depending on availability)
Double rooms are available for an extra $10 per person per night
Children are welcome however they must be supervised by an adult at all times
The night dive is with sharks (Awesome!!)
Please read the important dive information before booking
GST, Port and Fuel Levy and EMC of $15 per person per day is also payable on board
Everyone will be required to fill out a Medical Waiver Release and Indemnity Deed onboard the vessel
Please leave at least 24 hours after your last dive before flying
There is a licensed bar on board the boat

Everything Cairns Comments

Wow!! If you are a certifed diver then this is a must do while in Cairns. The liveaboard boat is awesome with plenty of room to relax, spacious bedrooms, friendly staff, tasty meals and most importantly plenty of great dive sites. The night dive with sharks is by far the absolute highlight of my life. It beats jumping out of a plane, heliskiing or bungy jumping hands down!

Suggestions: Book for a couple of nights as one night just isn't enough and even if you're scared of sharks (like me) make sure you do the night dive. I promise you wont regret it!
